There are lots of pros and cons to this machine (mostly pros) but I believe it will pay for itself in the long run. A choice of S-video, VGA, or HDMI would have been nice but like I say I am able to make good use of the connections provided. I would recommend this product to anyone who is in the market for a dependable computer. Some of the bugs involved with new technology seem to have been worked out allowing a user unlimited access to the machine's capabilities. All in all this is a good piece of work and may I just say I love the keyboard!

I spent a considerable amount of time researching for this computer purchase. I read and re-read other reviews to get a balance as to what would be a good purchase. I had three criteria: Intel Core i3 (or better) processor, an HDMI output, and bluetooth. After reading the Amazon.com description and the Lenovo information attached to the page, I determined that the Lenovo G560 Series 0679AKU was my ideal laptop. The VERY FIRST thing I checked upon opening it up was that there was NO HDMI output and further inspection showed it did not have bluetooth either. I had already discarded the printed copy of the specs I had used in making my decision to verify that it should have included both features. The current specs do not show either item. I find it very difficult to believe that I could have missed both features and I am led to believe that the specs changed in the interim. The computer itself is great but each time I get on it, I have this feeling of disappointment that it didn't come as it was presented originally. I must say that the keyboard is excellent, although I use a wireless keyboard for longer typing sessions. The exception there being the numeric keypad, because it's crammed into a smaller space than on a normal keypad, it is difficult to use without looking at the keys. If you like a nice bright screen this is the laptop for you, it has the impression you might get by overexposing your photos by a stop. It is disappointing again that there is not a contrast control. The last item of disappointment was that, shame on me for not being more observant, this is an Essential model, Lenovo's low end and I thought I was ordering an Ideapad. All-in-all this is a very competent computer for the money and probably over-spec'd for most of my needs. Build quality is good, the keyboard feel is good and it works like a champ.

I've owned this notebook for about a week now and am extremely impressed. The amount of power you get for your money these days is unbelievable. The Core i3-380M is the second-fastest Arrandale-based Core i3 in Intel's mobile line-up, so its performance is very close to some of the lower-end Core i5 CPUs but at a more affordable price. The combination of this CPU and the on-chip integrated graphics make for a pretty cool (temperature-wise) machine. The fan doesn't come on all that often and it never gets too hot to the touch. So far it seems like I can get around 3 1/2 hours from the included battery.
The build quality feels nice and solid. There's not really any bending or flexing anywhere - no weak points I can find. The screen is bright and sharp and the 15.6" size is just right. It might be a little big if you planned on traveling with it a lot but I'll be using this mostly for home use. One of the advantages of this size laptop is the built-in numeric keypad. If you do a lot of work in Excel, for example, it's nice to have. Usually once you go down to the 14" notebooks you lose that feature. I'm also a fan of the keyboard. The keys aren't too loud but they have a nice feel to them, very easy to type quickly on. Some of the other notebooks I looked at have somewhat flat-looking keys, which seems to be the trend right now but seems more form over function to me. This keyboard is great though.
I swapped out the hard drive with a Kingston SSD and was impressed to see Lenovo using quality components. I'm sure they switch which components they use from time-to-time, but mine came with a Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard drive (which I'm now using as an external drive for back-up) and a couple of sticks of Samsung memory. Everything looked nice and tidy under the hood.
All-in-all I'm very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this. For not much more money than a lot of netbooks (and cheaper than most tablets) this is way more powerful and functional.
