The mirror ball is as described. Its highly reflective and seemingly pretty durable. It does not have a base extender on it so it just rests on to of the base. Ours has not blown off yet and even if it does is should not be damaged.

For the past 10 years I have had 2 glass silver gazing balls in my garden. The paint was chipping and the day of reckoning was here. They needed to be replaced. I wanted color and duribility so I decided on a 10-inch Purple Stainless Steel Gazing Globe (VCS PRP). The globe is located in a yellow day lilly bed. Instant dramatic color. I am pleased with my purchase which was delivered promptly. I would buy this again and suggest it to friends. Amazon is a great place to shop.
