First, a word of caution: Read all of the assembly instructions before starting! Not that there is much assembly involved (just putting the handles together), but after you finish step 4 and think you are ready to go, step 5 tells you to install a strain-relief bracket (seen hanging off the middle rail in the picture). To install it, you have to take the handles apart again. This should have been step 1! Just a small irritation, though. That aside, it works great. No more involved than using an electric lawnmower, even on the most shallow setting, which they recommend to start, the thatch comes pouring out the back as it moves easily forward. At first, I wished it had a collector bag, like a mower, but then realized that I would have had to stop about every minute to empty it. It was easier to just go across the lawn and rake it up after. Did a great job of clearing out the thatch without seeming to harm the healthy grass. The proof will be my lawn next spring!

this machine gets the job done and done very well. It's easy to push around. actually I had to somehow drag it otherwise it just ran on its own.
Mine comes with a set of 18 replacement tines.

We have a small lawn and this worked great! I read the over heating reviews but never encounter an issue with over heating. It was very easy to assemble and just as easy to disassemble which was nice since I lack a lot of storage space in my garage and this is something you only use once or twice a year. The price was right for occasional use and deliver was quick. Because I had read issues about over heating when I used the unit I would do a section of lawn, let the unit rest while I raked and bag the thatching's and there was plenty to bag. This unit is a great way to over-seed your lawn and I would highly recommend cutting your lawn before using the dethatcher.
