The Grass Stitcher is actually a great invention and worked as advertised. The handle is very heavy duty tubular steel and appears indestructible. The rows of teeth on the business end of the tool are made of a plastic material that are not indestructible. In my first use of the tool to repair some bare patches in my lawn a plastic tooth on the head of the tool struck a piece of wood mulch in the ground and broke a tooth. I also had another tooth get bent presumably by a small rock. The results were great, and the tool created a great aerated spot for grass seed and the bare spots are now sporting new grass. My concern is how many more uses will I get from this tool with the plastic teeth? The product comes with allegedly a life time warranty. Seems like the engineers should have used metal instead of plastic for the teeth.
As a postscript I will add that the manufacturer took the time to read my review, and actually send me new teeth for the tool. The company also confirmed that the tool comes with a lifetime warranty and will replace any damaged parts for the life of the tool. Grassstitcher is a class act!

First off I looked at everything on the market and this by far was the best and the best executed design. That is the reason for my 4 star rating or else it would be 2-3 stars. I received my grass sticher yesterday and put it to work today. Great design using your body weight is the only way but still allot of work. If you have a big area to do this is not the tool unless you want a work out. I wanted to patch small areas and it is fast and easy my other option was an attachment for my tractor but that is big and storing it is not fun.
Build quality is great all aluminum, so nice for this not to weigh 40 lbs like every other steel yard tool. Nice no slip pad, heavy duty except,
Now for the bad. Using my foot is ok but when trying to use my arms like in the video I can not get the handle tight enough. I crank down on the thumb screws as hard as I can and the handle works its way down on the shaft it also moves side to said a bit when I use the foot. I crushed my thumb in the silly square screw as I was frustrated and continually loosing it and putting the handle back center and tightening it HARD. This is really a bummer and a big pain. To bad the handle is not the same quality as the rest of the tool. Because of this defect it may go back unless I can somehow fix it or buy a better handle. I also got mind off Amazon and it had a big scratch up the shaft and some dings, doesn't bother me but I wonder if someone else returned it. I used it for about 15 min one of the teeth broke, but I do have rocky soil. But I have to say any metal teeth would of bent and also been a mess. Overall I cannot recommend this for the price because of the handle issues I am having. I can't believe I am the only one in these reviews to have that issue maybe I am using it a bit harder than most but I am a 38 year old IT guy I am really not that strong. But that screw as tightened down to the point of the plastic nearly breaking and it the handle still moved.

Always had a problem growing grass in those ugly bare spots. Nothing seemed to work. Through the years, I tried it all. Everything from those all-in-one (mulch, seed and fertilizer) to rake, seed & straw. You name it, I tried it. Saw the Grass Stitcher, had my doubts, but this thing really works! Video showing how to use it was great. Even loaned it to a friend, who proclaimed a few days later "it doesn't work" BUT several days after that, to his delight - grass appeared!!! It's refreshing to see something that works as advertised. Even bought one as a thank you for the guy who installed my inground sprinkling system so he could clean up his mess.
