The picture looks the same as if connected to a LCD TV. Small text can sometimes be hard to read. I would have gave 5 stars if the converter had an on/off switch. The converter constantly gives a blue signal causing the monitor to stay on. If your device is turned off, the screen turns black but the back light stays on. My monitor does not have an on/off switch, and I am having to unplug the power cable from the converter.

I have this unit connected from the S-video output of an old Panasonic DVD-A7 DVD Audio/Video player to the VGA input of a 21" ASUS LCD monitor. The video quality is quite good for a unit of this price. If you are looking for a composite/S-video to VGA converter this will work. I don't know how it works the other way around, VGA to composite/S-video. It may not work.

I purchased this device to hook up an Emerson Karaoke machine with RCA/composite video out to my VGA monitor and it works just as I wanted. Yes, the resolution isn't the same as a VGA input, but that's to be expected when the video from the composite device is meant for a CRT.
